Cris Freese is a technical editor and writer by day, and a freelance writer and literary intern for Corvisiero Literary Agency by night. Previously, Cris was the managing editor of Writer's Digest Books, where he acquired and edited writing reference titles. At Writer's Digest, he worked with best-selling and award-winning authors, such as Donald Maass, Paula Munier, Jennifer Probst, James Scott Bell, Jeffrey Somers, Jane K. Cleland and Cheryl St. John. He managed all acquisitions processes, evaluating book proposals and developing projects for potential publication.
While with Writer's Digest, Cris acquired, edited, and wrote all content for the Guide to Literary Agents blog—the premiere writing blog for all things agents. He also compiled and edited two annual guides, Guide to Literary Agents and Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market.
Besides writing for the online and social media audience, Cris has experience crafting a variety of magazine pieces, as well. He wrote the Standout Markets column for Writer's Digest magazine for two years, crafted the annual agent feature (and a standalone feature on hot genres) and wrote several articles featuring WD competition winners.
Cris is a 2013 graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was born, raised, and currently resides.
